Opus Oaks Faculty

MALCOLM HARLOW
Malcolm has been a full time sculpture and master
stone carver for over 40 years.
He earned his BA in Art Education from the
Maryland Institute of Art.
His local work includes a bronze statue of
young George Washington created for the Winchester Historic Society and
located on Cork Street in Winchester, Virginia.
His work includes large stone carvings,
bronze sculpture, and architectural stone work.
His tenure at the Washington National
Cathedral as a sculptor/designer and stone carver has given him national
recognition.
Though most of his work is commissioned,
he shows his personal work by appointment at his home.
Malcolm has taught stone symposiums in
conjunction with Lord Fairfax Community College in addition to working with
many apprentices.
As a perk for Opus Oaks, he leads tours of
the carvings of the Washington National Cathedral and is a great critic for
our sculpture classes.
Malcolm lives with his wife, Gale, on a small
farm.
Together they do a lot of art stuff and
enjoy taking care of their big oaks.
He has raised three terrific children and
is grandpa to four extraordinary grandchildren.
