About Us:
Opus Oaks, An Art Place, Inc.
Opus Oaks provides an avenue for
pre-school, school-age, and adults to learn and explore the world of art
while developing their talent. The school provides classes for those
just beginning their journey and advanced classes to build on previous
knowledge. Key areas of study are in drawing, painting, and sculpture.
Other areas of interest are stained glass, printmaking, and photography.
Opus Oaks, An Art Place, Inc. was founded in 1995 by Malcolm Harlow and Gale
Bowman-Harlow to provide a foundation for supporting artistic creativity
through art education, involvement within the community, and to share their
art collection with others. In 1999, Bonnie Jacobs and Gale
Bowman-Harlow established a studio art school called Studios East & West.
In 2004, Opus Oaks was formed as a non-profit 501(c)3 to be the parent
organization over the MALCOLM Museum, Studios East & West, and the art
library. The main part of the school was moved to 109 First Street in
Berryville, VA at that time.
